What a great tool - the IPAD. Loved the IPOD Touch and these two just go hand in hand because I can sync from one to the other and simply carry the IPOD everywhere I go. Also a photographer's dream! Not only is a great working, organizing, weath of information tool, it is also a lot of fun! Saves me a lot of time going to my desktop, because I can work on the IPAD while reclining or relaxing outside. LOVE IT!!!

This seems to have no specific positioning. I mean, you will still need the phone at least. Moreover, apple as usual seems to think no end of themselves. This does't even have a USB port. What do they expect? USe this only at a Wi fi enabled home with the web and nothing else? The chinese already have introduced this product 6 months back with all required software, touch screen, memory (But poor battery life), USB ports etc. I'm not a fan of chinese stuff, but look at their thought process

I agree with Peter up to a point. If the iPad is as easy to type on as a net book, then it sits nicely in that market space. I wonder if you can hook up a mobile to the iPad. I use my 3.5G HTC Touch Pro with my laptop which gives me ultra fast mobile broadband without having to buy a 'dongle' & pay a subscription.
The iPad will no doubt attract its early adopters but, at the moment, it doesn't seem to know what it is. I feel sure future iterations will swiftly follow & it's therefore worth keeping hold of your cash for a while.

thumbs down for this so far.. its pricey for what it does
a combo of iphone + macbook may cost a tad more but gives u everything you need. this doesnt, so you would still want a proper computer and maybe an iphone too

I for one didn't know the iPad was on the way. We live a very sheltered life here in the UK! My immediate impression is that it's an Apple Net Book. If it takes SIM cards, why can't you make a call on it. HTC has had a slightly smaller version on the market for quite a while & it's also a phone.
