Zoom R8 Press Release

Zoom’s R8 Gives You Total Production to Go

Portable, powerful 8-track recorder with built-in stereo mics provides the ultimate mobile music production studio

Hauppauge, NY – June 1, 2011 – Zoom’s all-new R8 is the perfect tool for capturing audio on- the-go. It combines four production tools in one compact, versatile device. In addition to being an 8-track playback/2-track simultaneous recorder that utilizes SD memory, the R8 is an audio interface, a control surface and a pad sampler.

“The R8 will fit in a guitar case, for a flexible, multi-track solution,” says James Tsaptsinos, Samson’s VP of Sales. “More than ever before, Zoom users have all the tools necessary to create studio-quality recordings on-the-go.”

With a sampler function that consists of eight voices, the R8′s built-in drum sounds can be triggered using eight pads to assign sounds to each track and create loops. You can also use the unit’s drum machine to create original backing beats, or simply output a metronome for tempo control. Not only does the R8 offer over 500 drum patterns to work with, it also includes a 2GB SD card containing 500MB of drum loops recorded by Big Fish Audio.

The R8 comes with a 2GB SD card and supports up to 32GB SDHC cards for a maximum of 100 track hours. Using SD media for recording not only makes the R8 lighter and more portable, it also ensures increased reliability with no concern for a crashing hard drive.

Take your R8 into your studio and record additional tracks using its USB audio interface. Then when you’re ready to mix, use the R8′s control surface capabilities to manage each function of
your favorite DAW software. Choose from over 140 built-in studio effects to enhance your recording and use the pro-quality mastering effects to complete that studio sound.

With the new R8 from Zoom, versatility, control and comprehensive features come together in a single device that fits in a guitar case.

Press Release

SONY UPGRADES THE DIGITAL HOME EXPERIENCE WITH NEW AV RECEIVERS

Available for Pre-sale, 3D Compatible Line Offers Outstanding Audio and Video Performance

SAN DIEGO, Mar 2, 2011 – Sony today announced the company’s new AV receiver line including a model that offers a high quality digital home experience with easy access and control of streaming digital music.

The 3D compatible models, which are now available for pre-sale at www.sonystyle.com, include the STR-DN1020, STR-DH820, STR-DH720, and STR-DH520 AV receivers. Starting under $500, all models will be available this spring.

The flagship STR-DN1020 receiver is a gateway to streaming music with access to Internet audio services including Slacker® and vTuner when connected to an existing broadband home network through the model’s Ethernet port.

The device is Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA®) certified allowing it to play digital music from your home PC or other connected DLNA device. It can also stream audio to Sony’s HomeShare® wireless network speakers (sold separately) and features Sony’s PartyStreaming mode with synchronized playback on multiple speakers.

The 7.2 channel, 110 watt (8ohms 1kHz 1% THD) receiver is compatible with the Sony “Media Remote” app that turns an iPhone®, iPod touch® or Android™ mobile device into a remote control. The app, which can be downloaded from the Apple App Store or the Android Marketplace, functions as a full remote with a keyboard controlling the receiver.

The STR-DN1020 lives up to Sony’s high-quality video and audio standards as well. The model features a Faroudja DCDi Edge video processing chip that up converts and upscales analog signals to near 1080p HD quality via HDMI, while its Digital Legato Linear (D.L.L.) advanced sound processing technology also improves audio fidelity. D.L.L. analyzes standard definition (compressed) audio signals such as Dolby® Digital and dts™ format sound and upscales them to 192 KHz resulting in higher quality audio.

Audio from the receiver is also fine tuned with the help of Sony’s advanced Digital Cinema Auto Calibration (D.C.A.C.) with Automatic Phase Matching and Sound Optimizer technologies.

Utilizing the included microphone, D.C.A.C. measures and analyzes room acoustics, adjusting the receiver’s output to deliver the best possible audio, while allowing all of the speakers to use the same phase as the front channels. At the same time, Sound Optimizer automatically improves audio for a consistent surround image at any volume level.

Harmon Kardon has pumped out a new surround bar called the SB 16 home theater soundbar system. We’re all familiar with surround bars and what they intend to accomplish (produce decent quality sound without the hassle of a full surround speaker array). Why Harmon Kardon? Well, really I don’t know other than I have been a fan of their products for a good many years now and the SB 16 sits right in the middle price range for surround bars at a suggested retail of $599.99.

The SB 16 soundbar features two-way, dual-driver, left and right soundbar speaker channels, each with two 3-inch (75mm) midrange drivers and a 3/4-inch (19mm) dome tweeter. The wireless subwoofer is driven by 100 watts of power and pumps deep bass from a 10-inch (250mm) driver within a ported enclosure. The soundbar amplifier power boasts 25W x 2 into 8 ohms, 20Hz to 20kHz, at <0.07% THD, when both channels are driven simultaneously. There is a 3-D virtual speaker surround mode that creates a complete surround-sound experience without any extra speakers or wires according to Harmon.

Press Release

STAMFORD, Conn.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–HARMAN International Industries, Incorporated (NSYE:HAR), today announced the release of the new harman kardon® SB 16 2.1-channel soundbar home theater speaker system.

“The brand-new harman kardon SB 16 is proof of our continual passion for this goal.”

Home theater installations typically involve five loudspeakers, a subwoofer or two, and lots of speaker wire. Not every room can accommodate so many components, and not every homeowner wants to live with them. The harman kardon home cinema soundbar system offers an elegant and far simpler alternative: a single amplified loudspeaker unit connected directly to your television, DVD player or game console, and a single wireless subwoofer that you may place anywhere in the room.

Offering traditional stereo playback or realistic 3-D surround-sound processing, the SB 16 delivers true harman kardon performance with the absolute minimum number of components, and with no wires in (or out of) sight.

The SB 16 delivers exceptional sonic performance that can flood a room with a completely rich surround-sound experience from just one speaker. The soundbar features two-way, dual-driver, left and right soundbar speaker channels, each with two 3-inch (75mm) midrange drivers and a 3/4-inch (19mm) dome tweeter. The sleek and glossy wireless subwoofer is driven by 100 watts of power and boasts a 10-inch (250mm) driver within a ported enclosure. The soundbar amplifier power boasts 25W x 2 into 8 ohms, 20Hz to 20kHz, at <0.07% THD, when both channels are driven simultaneously. State-of-the-art harman kardon sound-processing technology includes a 3-D virtual speaker surround mode that creates a complete surround-sound experience without any extra speakers or wires.

“To design an elegant technological solution that is convenient to use and can operate seamlessly within its environment is one of the biggest goals that drive us here at HARMAN,” said David Slump, president, HARMAN Consumer Division. “The brand-new harman kardon SB 16 is proof of our continual passion for this goal.”

The SB 16 also includes key features that make it more convenient when instruction manuals, cords and remotes constantly fill up our living rooms. For example, the new soundbar is programmable so that it can obey your TV remote’s volume, power and source commands, enabling a single remote to control your whole home theater system. An EQ switch lets you adjust the soundbar’s bass for wall mounting or table mounting to deliver the most natural-sounding bass performance in any installation. And last but not least, an auto turn-on circuit automatically switches the subwoofer from “standby” to “on” when an audio signal is present.

Pricing and Availability

The harman kardon SB 16 is available in black and has a suggested retail price of $599.99. For additional information or to purchase, visit www.harmankardon.com/SB16.

The colorful designs caught my attention the most and the construction quality seems quite good. Most of the product are pretty affordable for most with the Smile Jamaica earbuds starting at $29 and the over-the-ear phone starting at $59. The Roots Rock bomb box will retail for $249 and the flagship speaker dock, One Foundation will be a whopping $499, but if the sound is as good as it looks they may be worth the extra coin. More in the press release after the break.

The House of Marley: Superior Quality, Sustainably Sourced, Cause Minded and Waste Conscious.

Superior Quality: Bob was a master at his craft and The House of Marley aims for the same excellence

in everything it creates. Using reggae music as the test by which all MARLEY products are made, bass is

the driving force in every product. That doesn’t mean we’ve neglected the highs either. MARLEY

products aim for authenticity and you can hear it in every instrument and vocal. MARLEY products are

made to withstand even the most active lifestyle and to emulate Bob – timeless.

Sustainably Sourced: The House of Marley’s goal is to create high-quality products in the most ethical

and environmentally positive way. MARLEY audio products are made with Forest Stewardship Council

(FSC)-certified wood, the highest standard for wood and forest products, and use recycled and recyclable

aluminums and plastics. The House of Marley is continuously searching for the highest-quality, lowest

environmentally impactful materials the world has to offer.

Cause Minded: A portion of proceeds will benefit 1Love.org, a not-for-profit business created with the

Marley family to create awareness and a sustainable flow of contributions to benefit 1Love.org-supported

charities that empower youth, protect our planet and encourage global peace. Learn more at 1Love.org

Waste Conscious: The House of Marley creates eco-conscious products that aim to be sustainable,

renewable and recyclable. But one thing it’s not about creating is waste. Each MARLEY product is

packaged using pulp or recycled and recyclable material, so it can avoid the waste stream and manifest

into something useful again. In addition, MARLEY earbuds and headphones come with storage bags

made from natural fibers, such as cotton and hemp.

MARLEY PRODUCTS: JAMMIN’, FREEDOM AND DESTINY

The House of Marley consists of a tiered “good, better, best” product strategy that allows for a wide

bandwidth in product, price point and retail destinations, while engaging three distinct consumer

segments. MARLEY earbuds are small, compact and prepared to take on the heaviest bass. MARLEY

Logitech is throwing out another THX certified speaker set. This 2.1 system is called Z623 and delivers 200 watts so it is large enough to sit next to a TV and deliver ample volume, but not so large that it can’t be used at a computer. THX doesn’t hand out their certification to just any speaker. A stringent performance standard must be met in order to qualify, so you can be sure that you’ll get good quality sound. If you’ve ever been to a THX certified theater, you know the kind of sound reproduction that THX demands.

The Logitech Z623 should be easy to connect to any computer, TV, music or video player with RCA and 3.5mm inputs. The Z623 is scheduled to be available in the U.S. and Europe in September for a suggested retail price of $149.99

Press Release

FREMONT, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–For big, bold sound from your music, movies and games, Logitech (SIX:LOGN) (NASDAQ:LOGI) unveiled the THX® Certified Logitech® Speaker System Z623. With this 2.1 system, you’ll hear and feel immersive audio from 200 watts (RMS) of power whether you’re connecting the speakers to a PC or a TV.

“That’s why we built the Logitech Speaker System Z623 – so you can lose yourself in whatever you’re into. For DVD aficionados, music enthusiasts and hardcore gamers, the Z623 system delivers powerful audio for your room. And with THX certification, you know you’re getting the best.”

“Whether you’re listening to rock music, watching a Steven Spielberg flick, or playing your favorite video game, the experience is always richer when you get engrossed in the audio,” said Mark Schneider, vice president and general manager of Logitech’s audio business unit.

So you can set up the system the way you want, Logitech includes all the inputs and cables you need to get great sound from up to three audio devices. With the RCA and 3.5 mm inputs, in addition to the built-in headphone jack, you can be set up in minutes to enjoy great sound from your computer, game console, digital music players, TV or DVD player. And to put you in command, the integrated controls on the right speaker satellite let you dial the volume and bass up or down to customize your listening experience.

Logitech and THX – Delivering Pure Performance

To get you totally immersed in your audio, the Logitech Z623 speakers are THX Certified and professionally engineered to recreate the tonal balance of whatever you’re listening to. To qualify for THX certification, the two-satellite-and-subwoofer Z623 speaker system has to meet strict performance standards. Logitech engineers have worked closely with THX, conducting more than 400 acoustic and electrical bench tests covering frequency response, power output, distortion, noise and overall performance. For the Logitech Z623 speakers, the result is front speakers that deliver dialogue and ambient sounds so clear it’s like you’re on the set of your favorite film. And you’ll hear powerful, deep bass from your subwoofer as it recreates the roar of a jet engine or the sound of a collapsing bridge.

Pricing and Availability

The Logitech Speaker System Z623 is expected to be available in the U.S. and Europe in September for a suggested retail price of $149.99 (U.S.).
