“Text” Message Crashes iPhone: Apple Working Toward Fix

iOS 8 Crop

Apparently, there is another exposed hole in iOS 8 that Apple is developing a fix for.  Reportedly iOS 8 devices have an exposure to a specific text message that will crash them.  The issue is caused by the way notifications containing Arabic characters are handled.  Furthermore, a particular character sequence causes the device to restart. Thanks to some Reddit users discovery, iOS 8 devices are exposed through notifications whether the nasty message comes via Twitter, Facebook, or any other app that may be set up to deliver notifications.

The good news is that Apple is actively seeking a solution, but no timeline has been given yet. For the short term avoiding the annoying prank or malicious attack can be fixed by simply turning off notifications for peace of mind.
