Hot on the heels of the new MacBook Pro models with Thunderbolt, LaCie has introduced a dedicated Thunderbolt-compatible external drive. The Little Big Disk should be available this summer and will pack two 250GB Intel 510 Series SSDs that are preconfigured as a Striped RAID Set.
When LaCie showed off a prototype of the Little Big Disk at the Intel Developer Forum last September, it was churning over a 700MB/s constant data transfer rate at the end of a daisy chain that also included a DisplayPort monitor.

The Actiontec MegaPlug 85Mbps ethernet adapter kit contains a pair of HomePlug ethernet adapters for around $65. If you’re not familiar with the HomePlug standard:
The HomePlug Powerline Alliance was founded in March of 2000. Since most electronic devices already use power outlets to receive power, the goal of the Alliance was create a way that these same power outlets and electrical wires could be used to connect the devices to each other and to the Internet. The Alliance achieved this by evaluating technologies and creating a specification. The HomePlug 1.0 specification was released in June of 2001, which was followed by HomePlug AV in 2005, and HomePlug Command and Control in 2007. -HomePlug Powerline Alliance
I picked up a pair of these to give me a hard line connection for my bedroom, where I’ve got a Sony BDP-S370 Blu-ray player that I wanted to stream Netflix and Pandora through. [click to continue…]
