JVC GZ-MG750BU Camcorder Review

by Joe on March 18, 2010

The JVC GZ-MG750BU is a mid level compact HDD camcorder with up to 80 GB of capacity or 100 hours of record time and still capture capability.  At the highest quality setting there is 19 hours of in camera record time on hand.   A microSD expansion slot gives the ability to add storage or make file transfer quick and easy.  This JVC camcorder boast a 45x dynamic zoom, image stabilization and low light performance.

I think the main reasons for buying a camcorder rather than a pocket-style camcorder is storage and and optical zoom.  Though the two are not in the same category you should consider both styles.  If you can live with the bulkier size, more bang-for-the-buck can be squeezed from the typical camcorder like the GZ-MG750BU. JVC XS-SR3 is Tubular Dude

by Joe on December 22, 2009

JVC recently rolled out their new iPod speaker system, the XS-SR3.  JVC has taken a minimalist approach with the tubular wrap-around design.  The XS-SR3 not only holds an iPod or iPhone in the traditional upright position, but can cradle horizontally for use as a mini TV for viewing movies as well.

The XS-SR3 comes with a remote and a couple of audio inputs so it can double as computer speakers or handheld gaming speakers.  According to JVC’s website the XS-SR3 comes in at a staggering 12.1 lbs, but hopefully that’s a typo.  It’s also listed as .55 kg which should put it a much more manageable 1.2 lbs.  If you are willing to fork over $150, you can have one this month. JVC has released a pair of soundbars I think most average home theater junkies will be excited about.

One of the new systems (TH-BA3) features  wireless surround speakers and a wireless subwoofer, a first in the industry, which should make setup very easy for consumers .  This system boasts a 280 watt 5.1 surround system with Dolby Digital, DTS and Dolby ProLogic II decoding.

The second of the two (TH-BS7) is a 4.1 system that features a super slim bar that measures just 1.4 inches tall with an even slimmer wall mountable amp and a 100 watt wireless subwoofer.  Read on into the press release for more details. [click to continue…]
