Sony has dropped out an all-in-one touchscreen Vaio for less than $1,000. Sony calls it the J series and has packed this machine with all the latest hardware, like the new 2010 Intel Core processors, a 7,200 rpm hard-drive, Blu-ray optical drive, wireless keyboard and mouse, a 21.5 inch high-definition display with a native 1,920 by 1,080 resolution and of course multi-touch touchscreen capability. HP is not to be outdone in the ever growing tablet PC world. HP has just unveiled the EliteBook 2740p, an ultra-thin, multitouch-enabled convertible tablet targeted at business with on-the-go needs. Also ready to roll out is the EliteBook 2540p the lightest EliteBook notebook PC, starting at only 3.3 pounds. Lenovo has knocked out the worlds first hybrid notebook the IdeaPad U1 at CES 2010. IdeaPad U1 embodies two totally separate stand alone devices rolled into one.
The IdeaPad U1 is really more of a netbook size with a screen size at 11.6 inches, but weighs in at a hefty 3.8lbs. The system boasts an HD LED screen and runs Windows 7. The two separate devices are said to function seamlessly when connected together and when disjointed processes are uninterrupted.
Release the1.6 pound multitouch screen from the top cover panel and the IdeaPad U1 becomes a handheld slate tablet device with a powerful ARM processor, running Lenovo’s customized Skylight operating system and 3G wireless capabilites.
