Easier streaming will be coming our way soon with Netflix One-Click remotes. Netflix dropped word that future remotes from most of the major brands will get a Netflix button for TVs, Blu-ray players and other devices that have built-in Netflix streaming capabilities.

Greg Peters from Netflix product development just addressed the mounting concern over the lack of Netflix on Android devices. Obviously, there’s been some outcry about the lack of Netflix streaming on Android phones since the iPhone has had it for a while now and the new Windows Phone 7 has it as well.
Turns out the culprit is DRM – or the lack thereof. [click to continue…]

Netflix has updated its iPhone app to support video out for iPhone 4. More importantly for me though is the other little asterisk in the release notes: bug fixes.
I can finally play a complete video without the app crashing on my iPhone 3G. I’ve been cooking along on Top Gear Season 11 now for over an hour with no hiccups. [click to continue…]

Google just laid out some more details on the new Google TV that should arrive on Sony and Logitech devices later this month. The biggest part of the news was what’s happening with some of Google’s content parters, which Google highlights in the 4 points below. [click to continue…]

Oh, sure there have been hints and murmurs for a while, but it’s good to know that Netflix is looking for more people to make it happen – like, now.

Netflix for iPhone has arrived. And, really this is more like Netflix Instant Streaming for iPhone than a full-fledged Netflix app. While the instant streaming will satisfy a large majority of customers, there is a growing outcry (even on the first day) for the ability to manage your queue outside of the the instant streaming titles, something that you can do on the iPad version of the app.
I was quite stoked to hear this news and had hoped to provide a firsthand report. However, after a full day of cursing my iPhone 3G through software updates, downloads and account verifications, all I get when I start the Netflix app is a bright, white screen.
I’ve read a few other accounts of this happening online, but no solid resolutions outside of some snake oil and voodoo. I’m running iOS 4.0.2, by the way.
I’m hoping this gets resolved soon and I can turn my iPhone-turned-iPod (I dropped AT&T in favor of Sprint earlier this month, but still benefit from WiFi connections) into a little personal TV. This is so cruel right now.

After I receive a disc from Netflix to enable instant streaming on the Wii, I should probably be a bit ashamed at the number of devices on which I can watch Netflix. In addition to my PC, I can stream Netflix content to my Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii. Like that is even remotely necessary. How spoiled are we?
That sad part is that I’m usually working on my PC and don’t want to stream video on it while doing so – and, as a result, I have nowhere to watch Netflix in my office since my G5 iMac isn’t supported by Netflix instant streaming. Perhaps I should move my Xbox 360 into the office? Yes, that seems like a productive move.

Netflix’s marketing speak on the Wii streaming can be found in the press release below. [click to continue…]
