TRENDnet Releases Powerline 1200 AV2 Adapter Kit


TRENDnet has announced its new Powerline 1200 AV2 adapter kit, which goes by the official model number TPL-420E2K.

The Powerline 1200 works like existing powerline solutions by extending hardline ethernet ports across an exisiting electrical system. The Powerline MIMO tech inside the 1200 uses all three electrical wires (live, neutral and ground) to boost the data throughput speeds and extend range over its Gigabit ethernet port.

A pair of the new Powerline 1200 units can cover homes up to 5000 square feet or a linear distance up to 980 feet.

Apple Local Device Awareness: Finally Something to Simply Print to the Closest Printer

We all know the drill: “Ok, what’s the printer’s name?”  Which is promptly followed by: “It’s HP Laserjet *gibberish*”  Then we print, and our document ends up somewhere on the other side of the building (if we’re lucky).

Of course, the solution many of us develop is to name the devices relative to the location (e.g., HP Laserjet North Hallway 2).  But what if your computer simply knew which printer was closest – and gave that info to you?
